Respect G-d and Praise Him

Do not blaspheme His name

Law 2 of 7

It is forbidden to curse or speak disrespectfully about G-d. This includes any expression that dishonors His Name. Even in difficult times, one must speak of G-d with reverence. This law protects the sanctity of our relationship with the Creator and reminds us to honor Him in word and thought.

One must show respect to the Creator of the world, who grants him life and the world to live in.

In practice

The prohibition to curse G-d or call Him any derogatory or disrespectful name.

A deeper look

When we feel disappointed with life, when things do not work out as they should, how easy it is to point an accusing finger and blame… everyone… everything… even G-d.

Loyalty and trust are crucial in life. To blame G-d, curse, or curse others in His name, is an act of disloyalty, akin to treason. It is an act that undermines the basis of all order and stability, on which a just society must stand.
